The new campus park with the underground station „Garching-Forschungszentrum“ was created as a green space in an urban environment. Three underground station entrances are integrated into the playful tectonics of the folded lawn areas and connected to the network of footpaths. They also serve as weather protection and space for bicycle racks. The „Campus Band“ planned as a meandring floor covering of red tarmac and grey concrete offers 300 Park+Ride parking lots and continues in a North-South direction along a grove of trees on the western side. The park, infrastructure and the roofs of the underground station are the first step within the creation of a new campus. Building plots for forthcoming institutes, guest accommodation and a main lecture hall/congress centre are all evidence of the location‘s potential for further development.
